We get a lot of questions about massage therapy, what it helps to treat, it’s benefits and costs. Here, we answer all your questions!
What is massage therapy exactly?
Massage therapy is the manipulation of muscles, tendons, ligaments, connective tissues and joints. It is clinically-oriented therapy that aims to mitigate pain and discomfort in the soft tissues of the body.
What will it cost me?
Generally, massage therapy treatments can range anywhere from $40 – $200 in Ottawa depending on the length of the massage which can range from 15 minutes to 90 minutes. But ultimately it could be considered an invaluable form of healthcare. If you have an extended healthcare plan, massage therapy is usually covered if you see a Registered Massage Therapist. Some clinics do direct billing, but either way there will be coverage so long as you are provided a receipt.
If you have been in a car accident and require treatment, we can help you. Massage therapy can be covered by the funding provided to you by the auto insurer with whom you’ve filed the accident claim.
Massage therapists are required to post the customary fee schedule. You can find ours posted at the reception desk. If you have any specific questions, you can ask our Patient Experience Coordinators at reception or we can help connect you with a massage therapist directly.
