What should I expect from my first massage therapy appointment?

When you first arrive to the clinic we will ask you to complete some forms. It takes 5-10 minutes. Please arrive 10 minutes early for your appointment and fill out a copy at the clinic. If you have extended health benefits we ask that you come 5 minutes early to verify your policy details. You can read more about our direct billing process.

During your first massage therapy appointment your therapist will conduct a short assessment of your medical history and current symptoms and problem areas. They may perform some physical tests to evaluate your mobility. After your massage, your therapist will advise you of any home care follow up you can do on your own or if you require another appointment.

What should I wear to my appointment?

If you are coming in for a physiotherapy assessment, we ask that you bring a pair of shorts and a loose shirt. Comfortable, loose clothing will allow your physiotherapist to thoroughly assess the part of your body that is problematic. They will advise you what is best to wear for any follow up visits.

If you are coming to receive acupuncture please wear loose clothing that can be lifted up or uncovered where you need to be treated.

Do I need a doctor’s referral to see a physiotherapist or massage therapist?

You don’t need a doctor’s referral to see any of our practitioners. However, if you have extended health benefits, your insurer may require a doctor’s prescription to cover any expenses. Check with your insurance company directly to find out what are the requirements for your policy. To find the phone number for your insurer, visit our direct billing page.

Will my insurance cover your services?

All of our professionals are licensed with their respective colleges. If you have extended health care benefits you will need to contact your insurer to find out what the coverage is for your policy. Most health benefits cover physiotherapy, massage therapy, and naturopathy. Visit our direct billing page for how to contact your insurer and what questions to ask!
